According to Standard Sport, Joao Pedro has seen a London knee specialist during the international break to speed his recovery.

He felt discomfort after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Hull, which ruled him out of the West London derby at Brentford six days later, a 3-0 defeat.

He then withdrew from the Brazil squad with the knee issue and is receiving care from the specialist alongside Chelsea’s medical staff. He could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

No decision has been taken on his involvement against Bournemouth on 10 October, when club football resumes, though the injury is not understood to be long term.

Pedro opened the league season with three goals and three assists in his first four matches, linking effectively with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. His absence was felt at Brentford, with Danny Welbeck lacking his fluidity.
