João Victor Fernandes rejoins Santos first-team training after loan | OneFootball

Santos have reintegrated goalkeeper João Victor Fernandes into first-team training this week, with the move following Gabriel Brazão’s shoulder surgery.

According to Diario Do Peixe, his contract was regularised on the CBF’s BID at the start of the month after a loan spell, but he had been training separately at CT Rei Pelé.

He now competes with João Paulo, Díogenes, Rodrigo Falcão and under-20 keeper João Pedro. Goalkeeper coaches Arzul and Denis Gago have not promised him opportunities, and competition for the position has intensified.

Out of the club’s plans, he was loaned to Confiança-SE at the start of the season but did not play. He asked to leave and a chance to join Santo André emerged. He even featured in a friendly for the Ramalhão against São Paulo and drew praise.

Santos could not complete his paperwork and did not finalise his release from the Aracaju club. With the Copa Paulista ongoing, there was no time to register him for the ABC Paulista side.

During the window he received enquiries from Portugal, but no official offer arrived. He has returned to the Peixe, and the club have yet to define his future.

Before the Confiança loan, Santos extended his contract until the end of 2028. The 22-year-old from Rio Verde, Goiás, began at Santo André, then moved to Ponte Preta before joining Santos in February 2023. Last year he aged out of under-20s, trained with the senior goalkeepers, did not debut and was not named in any first-team squad.
