Joe Cole has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former Liverpool and England winger discussing Saturday’s match.
Joe Cole on the chances of Eddie Howe’s side winning, as they take on Manchester City.
The Newcastle United boss set to face Pep Guardiola and his team with a 5.30pm kick-off.
Both teams desperate for the three points as they kick off such a busy period of matches.
Joe Cole talking ahead of Newcastle United facing Manchester City in the Premier League:
“I’ve watched Newcastle in Europe three [times] and they’ve been brilliant on every occasion.
“Their Premier League wins have come at home but they are 14th which isn’t good enough.
“Manchester City have just been brilliant but I am going to go with an entertaining 2-2 draw.
“Erling Haaland is averaging 4.2 shots per 90 minutes played so Haaland to have 4 or more shots would just be average!”
My thoughts
Joe Cole is backing Erling Haaland to have at least four shots today and that is little surprise, as he points out the striker already averages that and more.
Man City have only won one Premier League match away from home since the opening day of the season and Haaland is the only one of their players to score in these last four away games, three goals in total.
Stop Haaland and you stop Man City? Well, you can’t help thinking it would go a long way towards a positive NUFC result if they can. The Norwegian scored in August 2022 the very first time he played Newcastle but hasn’t managed a second against NUFC, so far!
As for Newcastle United, as Joe Cole points out, our best form has been in the Champions League.
It has also been a case of very different home and away form in all competitions.
The last five St James’ Park matches have seen Newcastle win all five, score 11 goals and concede only one.
