Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has picked his starting Xl for England’s World Cup campaign, and he’s named two Chelsea players.

This will certainly cause a lot of debate, but of course the only person who’s decision matters will be Thomas Tuchel on the day.

But either way, this will have tongues wagging. Cole Palmer’s form has been terrible this season overall and he is far off his best. Some people are even debating whether he should go in the squad for England this summer let alone starting for them at the World Cup. But Joe Cole has selected Palmer in his starting Xl.

The other obvious player in there is Reece James of course, who would start for most teams in the world when fit, without any debate.

As you can see above, Cole picks Palmer out on the right, with James behind him. The rest of his picks will cause some debate too, but overall it’s not a bad starting selection.
