On-loan Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt has again signalled he wants to stay at Hull City permanently following their promotion to the Premier League.
Asked about a permanent move, he said: "It's a good question, isn't it? Let's see what happens over the summer, but it's pretty clear what I want to do." He was speaking to Hull Live.
He returned on a season-long loan last summer and has enjoyed his best campaign, scoring 15 goals, including the second in the 2-0 play-off semi-final win at Millwall.
The 24-year-old came on midway through the second half at Wembley as Hull beat Middlesbrough to go up, with strike partner Oli McBurnie settling it deep into added time. Sixth-placed Hull defied the odds.
Hull have no option to buy him due to a recent transfer embargo. They could not commit any money last summer, so business centred on loans and free agents, which makes promotion even more striking.
As it stands, Gelhardt will return to West Yorkshire this summer. Leeds initially sought £3-4m last year and that figure could rise after his prolific season, delivering profit at anything above £1m. He has one year left on his Elland Road contract and talks are expected after a short break.
