According to Alan Nixon, the American businessman is planning to complete deals to bring Jose Kadir Barria and Jordan Barrera to Pride Park in the winter market as part of his plans for the Championship club.

Textor has been linked with a takeover in recent weeks, with John Eustace’s side enjoying a rich run of form.

The 60-year-old is the current owner of the Brazilian club, and has previous experience of English football through his time as part of Crystal Palace’s ownership structure.

He sold his stake in the London outfit earlier this year in a deal worth a reported £190 million.

Textor is already reportedly lining up transfer deals for Derby ahead of his potential takeover of the Championship side.

It has been claimed that the American wants to bring both Barria and Barrera to Pride Park.

It’s possible that the deals could even be completed as early as the January transfer window, provided the takeover can be finalised in time.

The duo are 18 and 19, respectively, so could make the switch to English football, as long as they can secure the right to work in the UK.

It’s believed that Textor is looking to secure an agreement with current Derby owner David Clowes worth around £60 million, as he

targets a return to English football.

Barria has made four league appearances for Botafogo, scoring twice, while Barrera has played three times in the Brasileiro Série A.

Derby are currently seventh in the Championship table, with Eustace’s side winning six of their last seven in the league.

Next up for the Rams is a trip to face third place Middlesbrough on 29 November in a 3pm kick-off.

Textor has proved an unpopular figure at his other clubs, and it’s moves like this that show why that’s the case.

Utilising his ownership of both Botafogo and Derby, he will move two bright young talents from the Brazilian side at a limited cost at an early stage of their careers in South America.

This may ultimately be to the benefit of the Rams, but it shows the ugly side of the multi-club model, as it will leave supporters of the Série A side by the wayside.
