Erling Haaland has expressed his pride and joy at reaching 100 Premier League goals in our pulsating 5-4 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The striker opened the scoring with an assured finish after 17 minutes, becoming the fastest player in history to 100 Premier League goals, achieving the feat in just 111 games, 13 fewer than previous record holder Alan Shearer.

Haaland turned provider shortly after, playing Tijjani Reijnders through to coolly dink us two ahead. Phil Foden’s stunner then added to our tally, before Emile Smith Rowe headed one back for the hosts before the interval.

A Sander Berge own-goal saw us extend our lead, before Foden added his second brace in succession to put us 5-1 up. An Alex Iwobi stunner and a double from Samuel Chukwueze resulted in a tense conclusion but City clung on to claim all three points in a chaotic encounter.

“It’s huge, I’m really proud. Of course it’s a massive thing,” said Haaland in an interview after the game when asked about joining the Premier League 100 Club.

“The 100 club is a nice thing to be in and I’m happy. I knew about this [record] and that’s what I try to do, try to help the team by scoring goals. That’s my job.

“I think if you’re sitting at home now, then you enjoyed that game. It was a chaos game. Nine goals in a game is a lot. In the end we win and we’re happy, but it’s not the best game.

“Every game is a different game, you can’t think of the games that have been, you need to focus ahead. The reality is we lost against Newcastle and Leverkusen and now we won two in a row. So we need to keep going, it’s a tough schedule. There’s many games now in the next month, so game by game, recover as best as possible.

“I don’t want to say the words, but when you’re a striker for Man City, you should be delivering great numbers. That’s my job. People should criticise me if I don’t. That’s normally what people do. In the end, I should deliver.”

The victory takes the Blues to within two points of league-leaders Arsenal, who are yet to play in this midweek round of fixtures.

Despite closing the gap to the Gunners, Haaland made it clear that City will only focus on themselves and take each game as it comes.

“Of course it’s important. Arsenal came here and they won as well. We know how difficult it is to come here. Fulham is a great team.

“We shouldn’t think too much about Arsenal. We should focus on ourselves and try to improve and avoid things happening like today.

“It’s not good enough, we all know this. We need to improve as a team. That’s where our focus should be.”
