Jokin Aperribay’s Ceuta visit marked by gifts as AD Ceuta beat Sanse 3-1 | OneFootball

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay travelled to Ceuta to support his counterpart Luhay Hamido around AD Ceuta’s meeting with Sanse, Real Sociedad B. The hosts won 3-1, their first victory of the season.

He arrived with vice-president Ángel Oyarzun and presented El Abrazo-Besarkada, plus two Mikel Oyarzabal shirts, the Real captain and a world champion with Spain. According to AS, Hamido was moved by the gesture and expressed his gratitude.

The bond between the clubs dates to a Copa tie at the Alfonso Murube on 12 January 2020. Real Sociedad won 4-0, with two goals from Luca Sangalli and further strikes by Januzaj and Barrenechea. Imanol Alguacil’s side went on to lift the trophy by beating Athletic 1-0 in Seville.

Hamido praised Aperribay as personable and supportive, saying the Real board offered help when needed and invited Ceuta to a match in the league or Europe. He recalled advice from their Tercera days, to be the best club during the week and accept weekend swings, because consistency brings rewards. He added that this approach has accompanied Ceuta’s rise to Segunda and thanked Aperribay for travelling despite his commitments.

These courtesies have resonated in the Autonomous City, which has been on edge since a migrant influx on 30 July. Daily life has worsened and solutions are not yet in sight. In that context the football team remains a unifying symbol for four cultures, Christians, Muslims, Jews and Hindus.
