Juventus monitor Man City’s Matteo Kovacic and why deal would make sense | OneFootball

Serie A side Juventus were keen on a midfield signing in the summer and missed out on Franck Kessie’s signing. Now, they could be keen on another midfield addition and Manchester City’s Matteo Kovacic has caught their attention.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juve are keeping a close eye on market opportunities for January.

While the centre-back and left-back areas need fixing, Luciano Spalletti would also like a signing in the heart of the park.

Kovacic is believed to be a cheap target, with his Manchester City contract running out in 2027. There has been no progress over a renewal, which has been appealing to Juve.

They know that due to midfield signings, Kovacic’s game time at the Etihad will reduce and this could convince him about a move to Turin. 

No negotiations have taken place for a deal but it is something to keep an eye on. Kovacic boasts not just international experience but also offers experience of having starred in Serie A in the past, before he moved to Real Madrid from Inter.

Juve are facing uncertainties over the fitness of Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli, who have been ruled out for the rest of 2026. This could make another experienced midfield signing quite important.
