After narrowly missing out on a swift return to the top flight last season – in bizarre circumstances – Bordeaux are intent on making things right at the second time of asking this year.
Les Girondins are looking to bolster the team, with a midfield recruit in particular an order of business. According to L’Équipe this morning, the Ligue 2 side have identified a host of targets that could bring experience without breaking the bank.
One of these is Troyes’ Florian Tardieu, a 31-year-old penalty specialist who is under contract with the Aube outfit – who were relegated last season – for another year.
Jonas Martin, who recently terminated his Lille contract after a mutual agreement with Les Dogues, is also on the shortlist. The 33-year-old, formerly of Montpellier, Real Betis, and Rennes, is also being looked at by Angers. Adrien Silva is also an option, having left Saudi Arabian side Al-Wahda after a year and a half in the Gulf state. The 34-year-old former Portuguese international was born in France, and spent some time in the Bordeaux academy in his youth days.
