OGC Nice right-back Jonathan Clauss’ (32) prospective move to Bayer Leverkusen has collapsed, according to a report from RMC Sport. The Bundesliga side has failed to reach an agreement with Les Aiglons over the France international’s final contract year. Nice reportedly turned down a €12m bid from Bayer Leverkusen. Clauss previously agreed on personal terms with Erik ten Hag’s Werkself, who were in the market for a fullback after parting ways with Jeremie Frimpong.
The report adds that after several rounds of inconclusive talks, negotiations have been halted between Nice and Bayer Leverkusen. The Bundesliga side was reportedly unwilling to meet Nice’s valuation of Clauss. The fullback was not part of Franck Haise’s side that defeated Auxerre 3-1 on Saturday. However, Nice are reportedly keen to retain Clauss’ services until the end of his contract next June.
