Napoli have moved ahead of both Inter and Juventus in the race to sign Jonathan David, having submitted a significant verbal offer to the player, who is expected to decide on his next destination in the coming weeks ahead of his contract’s expiration.
The Canadian striker is under contract with Lille until next June, but he has already informed the club of his intention not to renew, making him eligible to join a new team as a free agent starting in July.

While Inter and Juventus have long been linked with the 25-year-old, Napoli have recently intensified their efforts, acting decisively to gain an advantage over their rivals.
According to Matteo Moretto, the Partenopei have opened talks with David’s entourage and tabled a substantial verbal proposal to secure the forward’s signature.
Although negotiations are still ongoing—with both sides needing to align on key details concerning the contract and the club’s technical project—Napoli are currently the only club to have taken concrete steps toward a deal.
Despite strong interest, Inter and Juventus have not moved beyond initial enquiries, creating an opening for other clubs to join the race.

Several European sides, particularly from the Premier League and La Liga, are also keeping close tabs on the situation.
Napoli are hoping to speed up negotiations in the coming weeks by formalising their offer and closing the deal ahead of the competition.
