Jordan Pickford sets England record with nine consecutive clean sheets | OneFootball

Jordan Pickford has made history as an England goalkeeper after the Three Lions secured a spot at the 2026 World Cup on October 14.

England cruised to a 5-0 win over Latvia, thanks to a double from Harry Kane, goals from Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze, and an unfortunate own goal from Maksims Tonisevs.

The 31-year-old earned his 80th cap in the Latvia game and has been a key figure for England since his breakthrough in 2018. With this game, Pickford has levelled Joe Hart’s record of 42 clean sheets for England, with only Peter Shilton’s 66 still to chase.

Impressively, Pickford has now played the full 90 minutes in nine consecutive games without conceding, a run stretching back over a year.

Last Thursday, during England’s 0–0 draw with Wales, Pickford became the first goalkeeper to keep eight consecutive clean sheets for the England men’s team - a record he extended to nine against Latvia.

His last goal conceded was Vangelis Pavlidis’ late winner in Greece’s shocking 2-1 win at Wembley on October 10, 2024. Since then, he has gone 810 minutes without letting in a goal, surpassing his own record of 726 minutes set in 2021.
