Jorge Mendes names 16-year-old Barcelona academy gem as one to watch out for | OneFootball

Superagent Jorge Mendes recently spoke to Mundo Deportivo in length, addressing several topics related to FC Barcelona.

After all, the Portuguese agent has a number of Blaugrana stars as part of his clientele, such as Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Ansu Fati to name a few.

During this interview, Mendes confirmed that Lamine will be signing a new contract with the Catalan giants while he also refused to give anything away about the exit links surrounding Ansu.

Guille Fernandez – one to watch out for

As part of the interview, Jorge Mendes was also asked to name a young player at La Masia who is someone to watch out for in the future.

While he did not name a player right away, the Portuguese superagent name-checked Guille Fernandez as someone to keep an eye on.

I’m not going to talk about just one, because if I don’t have to talk about one, then another… the important thing is that they all follow the good examples and from there, things are sure to go well,” he said.

Continuing, he added: “I’ll just give you an example, Guille, who has already been in the first team, who also has tremendous quality, a player that the best clubs in Europe were delighted with when they saw him with the Spanish youth teams.

“They have already tracked him well. He’s a different kind of player, with the quality to reach the top.”

Indeed, Guille Fernandez is seen as among the top talents coming through La Masia. Just 16 years old, he did the pre-season with the first team under Hansi Flick and has been called up to train with the seniors quite regularly.

Despite his young age, Guille is a key player for Barça Atletic and it will not be long before he becomes the next breakthrough star at the Catalan club.
