Jorge Sampaoli has been sacked by Talleres less than three months after returning to Argentina, departing on Saturday after only seven matches with the team bottom of their group.

According to L'Équipe, the 66-year-old took charge in June for the closing tournament and leaves with a record of one win, two draws and four defeats, which has Talleres 15th and last in Group A.

He succeeded Carlos Tévez, who was dismissed despite a fourth place in Zone A in the opening tournament, followed by a round-of-16 exit in the play-off phase to eventual champions CA Belgrano.
