Morocco’s Women’s National Team have confirmed the appointment of manager Jorge Vilda on Thursday.
The 42-year-old returns to the game after being dismissed by the Spanish Women’s National Team following their FIFA Women’s World Cup victory this summer.
Vilda’s links to the Luis Rubiales scandal and poor relationship with the Spanish squad led to his sacking. He is currently under investigation in an alleged sexual assault and coercion case against Rubiales following the kiss with Jennifer Hermoso.
Morocco confirmed he will now take over for Reynald Pedros, and reports claim the new manager will be officially unveiled on Sunday.
The African nation made history at the tournament in Australia and New Zealand by reaching the Round of 16.
