Jorginho has fractured his right big toe and will miss Tuesday's CONMEBOL Libertadores tie against Cusco at the Maracanã, the club said. It also criticised officiating, noting this is their sixth fracture in under six months, with no opponents sent off in any of the incidents and some not even cautioned. The statement added they have the most ball-in-play time in the country, are only 12th for fouls committed, yet have the most expulsions in the league so far with six, five of them straight reds, none leading to an opponent leaving the field or being injured.

The midfielder was hurt in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Palmeiras. Tests on Monday morning confirmed the injury.

He was fouled by Andreas Pereira within seconds of kick-off, though it is unclear whether that challenge caused the fracture. He played on and was replaced by Saúl at 41 minutes of the second half.

Flamengo face Coritiba on Saturday 30 in the Brasileirão Betano 2026.

If Jorginho is unavailable then, he would become the club's tenth confirmed absentee.
