Jorginho is out of Flamengo’s match against Cusco in the Libertadores group stage after fracturing his right big toe against Palmeiras. The club said in a statement that scans on Monday confirmed the injury.
The damage followed two heavy first half fouls in the Palmeiras game, with the opponent not even booked. It is the sixth fracture suffered by a Flamengo player in under six months, and in several cases no yellow cards were shown.
Flamengo have the most ball-in-play time in the country and rank 12th for fouls committed, yet lead the Brasileirão for dismissals with six, five of them straight reds. None of those red cards saw opponents leave the field or suffer injury.
Flamengo have not confirmed his status for Coritiba on Saturday 30 in the Brasileirão Betano 2026. If he is not fit, he would become the 10th confirmed absentee, with the indication he will only return when fully fit.
There is also a possibility the club face Coritiba without 10 players, as those called up for the World Cup must report before the match.
Kick-off at the Maracanã is 21:30 Brasília time on Tuesday 26. The game will be shown on ESPN on pay TV and on Disney+ via streaming.
