Flamengo football director José Boto says he is open to returning to Greek football in the future, having previously worked at PAOK.

“I am always open to all proposals. Football has taught me never to say never. That would be absurd. I do not know what the future holds, but I love Greece,” he told Gazzetta.

“If I received an offer and did not have a team, but the project was good, of course I would think about it. I now have a different experience to PAOK, so why not?”

Boto arrived in Brazil on 28 December 2024 to familiarise himself with Flamengo’s operations and map the club’s first steps. He formally took charge from January 2025 and was the first name confirmed for Luiz Eduardo Baptista’s board.

Before accepting the role, the Portuguese was in charge at NK Osijek in Croatia, relinquishing that project to join Flamengo.

Flamengo face Coritiba at the Maracanã on Saturday 30 at 16:00 Brasília time in the 18th round of the Brasileirão, their final match before the World Cup pause.
