Jose Mourinho gives verdict on Barcelona star Lamine Yamal | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have shown a clear superiority over Real Madrid since the arrival of Hansi Flick on the Blaugrana bench, having lost only one of the last seven El Clasicos and won the other six. The Merengues have brought in Jose Mourinho to put things right from this season, and the Portuguese manager’s arrival is expected to bring even more fire and passion into an already fiery encounter.

The new Los Blancos coach has rather restrained himself since his return to Real Madrid, but has still made some statements which are not going to sit well with Barcelona fans. For instance, as MARCA has reported, Mourinho recently appeared in an interview with El Chiringuito, and among other things, also commented on the Negreira case and Lamine Yamal.

Talking about the Negreira case, the Merengue coach believed the referees actually favored the Catalan club when he was managing Real Madrid during his first stint at the club:

“The Negreira case is in the hands of the courts; we’ll see what the courts say. I felt that something was strange. I didn’t know the name, I didn’t know who Negreira was. But it was strange. A few years later, it’s clear that it wasn’t strange. The only thing I find strange is the justice system. In Italy, they did it with Calciopoli.”

Meanwhile, the Portuguese tactician also praised Lamine Yamal, but made it clear that he does not want him in his team:

“No, no. He’s a great player, without a doubt. A young player with incredible room for improvement. It’s not normal, at that age—20 or 19—to be a European champion and a world champion… But we have a top squad. I wouldn’t make room for anyone at the moment. Right now, they’re my players, and my players are the best.”

Such statements are expected to come regularly while Jose Mourinho remains on the Real Madrid bench. Going forward, it remains to be seen how he will manage his team on the pitch, and whether he will be able to stop the Barcelona juggernaut in the upcoming season.
