José Mourinho has been handed a timely lift for Benfica’s trip to Rio Ave, with Bruma named in the travelling squad after a long lay-off.

According to A Bola, the 31-year-old was spotted with the group at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport before the flight to Porto, smiling when supporters asked if he was ready to play.

It marks a return for the Portugal international, sidelined for about six months following an Achilles tendon injury in the Eusébio Cup against Fenerbahçe.

Bruma resumed full training two weeks ago. Having missed out against Porto, the number 27 could now collect his first minutes of the season.

The winger joined Benfica from Braga in January 2025 for six million euros, making 14 appearances last term, scoring one goal and supplying two assists.
