José Mourinho, still Benfica coach, is being kept abreast of unrest at Real Madrid following a training-ground flashpoint between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

AS reports that Mourinho has been updated on a heated dispute during a Madrid session, which ended with Valverde requiring hospital treatment for a head wound.

AS further states that the information relayed to Mourinho casts Valverde as chiefly responsible for the altercation after a series of accusations aimed at the Uruguayan.

AS adds that Mourinho was briefed on Wednesday and Thursday, a detail it says could point towards a possible move to the Santiago Bernabéu next season. Madrid have fined both players 500,000 euros.

Separately, Fabrizio Romano has said Real Madrid have started direct talks with Mourinho and his agent, Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese manager remains under contract at Benfica until 2027.
