José Mourinho said on Tuesday that Aurélien Tchouaméni will be rested for Real Madrid's next Liga match so he can return at 100 percent after a groin problem sustained during World Cup 2026.

According to Le Progres, the France midfielder missed full training on the eve of the first Liga game at the Santiago Bernabéu and, in Mourinho's view, is not yet physically ready to resume competition.

Mourinho stressed it is not a recurrence of the injury. He said Tchouaméni suffered at the World Cup, missed several matches, then returned for the semi-final against Spain after taking risks to try to play.

He added that, with the player and staff, they decided it was better to wait so he can come back at full fitness in one or two weeks.

While Tchouaméni sits out, Mourinho considered Madrid's transfer business closed, though he did not rule out a possible departure from within the squad.
