Nottingham Forest are exploring striker additions before the January deadline, with attacking depth a clear priority for head coach Sean Dyche.

According to The Telegraph, Norwich City forward Josh Sargent is among the options being looked at by Forest, and the 25-year-old has firm admirers at the club.

Options up front are limited after Arnaud Kalimuendo joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. Chris Wood is sidelined following knee surgery and Taiwo Awoniyi is out of favour, leaving Igor Jesus to lead the line.

Sargent joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in summer 2021. The United States international scored six in his first five matches this season and now has eight in 24 appearances. Toronto have also been credited with interest, and he made himself unavailable for the FA Cup win over Walsall last weekend.

After that tie, Philippe Clement said Sargent had informed him he was not available due to transfer matters on his mind. The Norwich manager said the issue would be handled internally, warned there would be consequences, and made clear the forward would not leave this window.

Ahead of Saturday’s 5.30pm meeting with Arsenal, Dyche reiterated that a striker is the obvious area to address and that several options are under review. He described January as a different market, said Forest must be proactive and reactive, and that aligning targets then completing deals is often the hardest part.
