Joshua Kimmich came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain in summer 2024, but extended his Bayern Munich contract in March 2025 until 2029 and says he does not regret it.

According to Kicker, in the Captain Kimmich documentary released just before the World Cup from 11 June to 19 July, he said he was 95% sure he would not extend his Bayern deal at that time.

During that period he spoke with Luis Enrique and Luis Campos at his Munich home and even researched schools for his children. He felt Bayern were ready to let him go and that PSG showed genuine commitment, a club he had not previously considered.

Despite a very substantial financial offer from PSG, which he described as incredible, he chose to stay with the club he joined in 2015, saying he did not want money to be the decisive factor.

Under Vincent Kompany he returned to his best, winning the Bundesliga and the German Cup this season, but Bayern were stopped in the Champions League semi-finals by PSG, 4-5 and 1-1.

He now says he has never felt such trust and that renewing with Bayern was the right decision.
