Manchester United are nearing a major departure in the final days of the transfer window.

The Red Devils recently announced the arrival of midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £70 million, including add-ons.

Michael Carrick could do with more signings before the end of the window, but United are likely to wait for a sale or two before spending more money this summer.

Manchester United in talks with Fiorentina for Joshua Zirkzee

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina and Manchester United are in advanced talks over a deal for Joshua Zirkzee.

The former Bologna striker has emerged as the Serie A side’s priority option to replace Moise Kean.

Romano claims Fiorentina have sent an official bid to United, hoping to strike an initial loan deal with the Premier League giants.

“€5m loan fee, buy clause included in the deal,” wrote the Italian journalist on X.

It is understood that talks are also underway between the Florence-based club and the Dutch forward.

The 25-year-old has nine goals and four assists to his name in 75 appearances for United since moving to England in 2024.

New striker after Joshua Zirkzee?

Meanwhile, United’s priority seems to be a left-back, but last week, Romano suggested that a move for a striker is possible.

The transfer guru insisted that the striker pursuit hinges on Zirkzee‘s future.

Now that the Netherlands international is close to leaving Old Trafford, INEOS may accelerate their efforts to add new firepower to their front line, which looked toothless against Hull City in the Premier League opener.
