Nicolas Gonzalez was expected to leave Juventus in the last transfer window, and he specifically asked to be allowed to leave the club after his loan spell at Atletico Madrid last season.

He wanted to return to the Spanish club, but they could not agree on a deal, while no other suitor showed serious interest in his signature as he looked to secure a departure.

Gonzalez was therefore forced to stay, but he is now showing great improvement compared with his first season on the books of the Bianconeri, as Juventus continue to look for ways to improve their squad.

He was one of the players Juventus signed in the summer of 2024, but he struggled during that campaign, which prompted the club to send him out on loan the following summer.

Gonzalez earns greater trust at Juventus

Juventus continue to believe in Gonzalez, and so far, he appears to have started enjoying his time with the Bianconeri. Luciano Spalletti is gradually turning him into a more consistent performer, with the attacker showing signs of improvement.

His development will be encouraging for Juventus, particularly after the uncertainty surrounding his future during the last transfer window. The club now appear to be benefiting from his decision to remain in Turin.

Gonzalez has also given the coaching staff reason to continue trusting him, as his performances have improved compared with his first season at the club.

Repice discusses Gonzalez’s improvement

Francesco Repice has spoken about the attacker’s improvement and suggested that something may have changed in Gonzalez after his expected departure failed to materialise. He said via Tuttojuve:

“Meanwhile, something has clicked in him. It seemed like he was going to leave, but instead… We never take into account the players’ personalities. His pride was probably triggered, and that’s where the coach is important. I believe this; something like this has happened many times. Maybe there are things we don’t know about.”

Gonzalez will now hope to continue building on his improved performances and establish himself as a more consistent member of the Juventus team.

For the Bianconeri, his progress represents a positive development after a difficult first season and an uncertain summer. The club will be hoping that his improvement continues as the campaign develops.
