Liverpool are expected to step up their pursuit of Bradley Barcola this week, with fresh movement anticipated as the club weighs a bid that could challenge, or even surpass, their current transfer record. According to Nicolo Schira, an offer is imminent, a significant development in a chase that has been building for months.
Barcola has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time, with recruitment staff identifying the Paris Saint-Germain winger as a major opportunity in the market. Interest has remained strong despite the complexity of dealing with PSG, who have shown little willingness to soften their stance. The French champions are understood to value the 23-year-old at an elite level, leaving suitors with only one realistic route, table a huge proposal.
That is where Liverpool now appear to be heading. There is an acceptance internally that a conventional offer will not shift PSG’s position. If a breakthrough is to come, it will likely require a figure beyond anything Liverpool have previously committed for a wide attacker, and potentially above the £125m paid for Alexander Isak.
The timing is notable. Liverpool have several areas of the squad to address before the window closes, and that creates pressure around both budget and prioritisation. Bradley Barcola remains one of the standout names under consideration, while other attacking options continue to be monitored in parallel.

What stands out in this situation is Liverpool’s willingness to keep pushing despite PSG’s hard-line approach. That suggests belief in the player’s quality, profile and long-term fit. Barcola offers pace, directness and top-level upside, qualities that are clearly being valued highly during this market cycle.
For now, the central question is simple, how far are Liverpool prepared to go? PSG are holding firm and time is tightening. If the expected bid lands in the coming days, it will provide the clearest indication yet of how serious Liverpool are about making Bradley Barcola one of the defining signings of their summer.
From an anxious Liverpool fan perspective, this feels exciting and nerve-racking in equal measure. Bradley Barcola is obviously a huge talent, and if the club are ready to spend record-level money, then they must believe he can become one of the best wide players in Europe. That part is easy to understand.
The worry is the usual one, timing. Liverpool supporters have seen too many windows drift into a late rush, with big ambitions meeting bigger asking prices. PSG are one of the hardest clubs in football to negotiate with, so the fear is that Liverpool could spend days pushing for a deal that never truly opens up.
There is also the question of squad balance. If so much money goes on one winger, the pressure on Barcola would be enormous from day one. Every performance would be judged against the fee. Fans will back him, of course, but a record-breaking move brings its own weight.
Still, there is something reassuring in the idea that Liverpool are prepared to act boldly. Supporters want to see a decisive response after clear weaknesses have lingered. If the club truly believe Barcola is the right fit, then this is the moment to prove it. The anxiety comes from knowing that intent alone never guarantees a signing.
