Journalist mocks Corinthians as Flamengo near Paquetá deal ahead of Supercopa

A Brazilian journalist mocked Corinthians’ finances as Flamengo closed in on signing Paquetá, with the teams set to meet in the Supercopa on Sunday in Brasília.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo are close to a €41 million move for Lucas Paquetá, worth R$ 256 million at current rates. Journalist André Hernan contrasted Flamengo being able to pay €35 million up front for Paquetá with Corinthians lacking R$ one million for Alisson’s loan.

Corinthians, meanwhile, have wrestled with rising debts in recent years and talks with São Paulo over Alisson’s loan stalled over a R$ one million release fee.

Both squads are preparing for the Supercopa do Brasil final. Flamengo face Corinthians on Sunday, one, at 16:00 Brasília time at Estádio Mané Garrincha, Brasília.

Before that, Flamengo face São Paulo on Wednesday, 28, at 21:30 Brasília time at Morumbi in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
