Juventus have a significant number of unwanted players in their squad at the moment, and the current transfer window provides an opportunity for the club to offload some of them.

The men at the Allianz Stadium have spent considerable amounts of money on players who have struggled to make a positive impact over the last few seasons. Many of these players joined the club with expectations of success but have since failed to meet the required standards.

The club continues to face difficulties in finding new destinations for them, as other teams are not particularly keen to add these players to their squads. Juventus could therefore remain with some of these unwanted options, but Luciano Spalletti has taken a different approach from Thiago Motta this summer.

Spalletti gives every player an opportunity

When Motta was appointed manager, he separated the players he wanted from those he did not intend to use. The former manager pushed Juventus to find solutions for the players who were not part of his plans, with the club attempting to remove them from the squad.

Spalletti, however, has chosen a different method. The new manager has included every player in the squad within his plans and has given them opportunities during the pre-season matches, including players such as Arthur Melo.

Juventus await decisions on unwanted players

Spalletti has provided every member of the squad with a fresh opportunity to demonstrate their ability before any decisions are made. According to Tuttojuve, Giovanni Albanese explained the manager’s approach by saying: “I’m not in favour of joking a priori about all those players we’ve eliminated too early in recent years as stickers. I understand that Spalletti really wants to study everyone a bit, then if the results are negative he will evidently ask the management to put them out, but as long as he brings them and evaluates them it means that it is something good”.

The approach allows Spalletti to assess the full squad before making recommendations to the club’s management. If certain players fail to impress, Juventus could still look to move them on, but the manager appears determined to make decisions based on evaluation rather than assumptions.
