Sevilla have their full squad available for Saturday’s meeting with Atlético Madrid in Nervión, with Juan Iglesias back in full training and Rubén Vargas working as usual while his future is unresolved.
According to La Colina De Nervion, Iglesias returned to the group after two days out and will be assessed to determine if he can face Atlético. Vargas continues training amid active talks with Olympiacos, a sale that could shape up to three late-window arrivals, and he could still feature if a transfer is not finalised before the game.
At Atlético, Julián Álvarez has missed training for a second straight day, citing illness, as uncertainty over his position grows. The club have publicly acknowledged they are contemplating a sale, but insist they will not allow a move to Barcelona, the striker’s preferred option.
Arsenal therefore appears the only destination that currently seems possible for Julián Álvarez. The saga threatens to inject instability into Cholo Simeone’s dressing room before the trip to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, while Sevilla prepare to extend an excellent start and chase a landmark not achieved for two decades.
Luis García Plaza’s side have beaten Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club in the opening two rounds. Victory on Saturday would deliver three wins from three for the first time in 20 years, last achieved in 2006-07 under Juande Ramos against Levante, Real Betis and Real Sociedad.
