FC Barcelona have seen the Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as their favorite candidate to be their next long-term center-forward for quite some time now. Throughout this summer transfer window, they have tried to land him, but have not been able to successfully complete this operation.

The main hurdle has been Atletico Madrid, who simply refuse to negotiate with the Blaugranes for their star striker. Initially, the Colchoneros were not willing to consider any transfer for him, but with the player himself asking for a move, they have shown some flexibility.
