Julian Brandt signs three-year Ajax deal after Leeds United approach

Leeds United transfer target Julian Brandt has opted for Ajax. The club said in a statement that the Germany international has joined on a free and signed a three-year contract to 30 June 2029.

Brandt, 30, became a free agent this summer after his Borussia Dortmund deal expired, and Leeds had made an offer.

His father, Jurgen Brandt, visited Thorp Arch for talks with Leeds officials, though the midfielder also considered other clubs.

Brandt spent seven seasons at Dortmund after earlier years with Bayer Leverkusen, and he has 48 Germany caps.

Leeds have been assessing other attacking options since they were unable to conclude a deal for Brandt before their pre-season tour of the USA. Marseille forward Igor Paixão, a target last summer, is among those under consideration.
