Impatience over Julian Carranza’s adaptation could see Leicester City look to free agent Michail Antonio, who is training with the squad at Seagrave, to bolster their striker options.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Patson Daka’s Africa Cup of Nations call-up, potentially for a month, would leave only Jordan Ayew and Carranza available up front.
Feyenoord loanee Carranza had only one season in Europe before joining City and has not featured in the past seven matches, with Marti Cifuentes preferring Ayew to start and Daka to provide impact late on.
Cifuentes says Carranza trains well and shows commitment, yet adapting to the Championship can be tougher than elsewhere because of the pace, physicality and refereeing, which can be especially challenging for attackers.
Carranza is still waiting for his first City goal, having last scored for Feyenoord in February. Antonio, released by West Ham in the summer, last netted in October of last year and then missed the second half of the season after a leg break in a serious car accident.
On Antonio, Cifuentes added that City must see the whole picture, describing him as experienced and high quality, and that they will review his situation over the next few days.
