Julien Lachuer has confirmed that goalkeeper Grégoire Coudert is set to leave Stade Brestois, with Egil Selvik to take over in goal. According to L'Équipe, the announcement followed Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Coudert, 27, has been with Brest since 2021 and broke into the side last season after Radoslaw Majecki, on loan from Monaco, struggled. With one year left on his contract, he has opted to move on.

Lachuer said Coudert has interest elsewhere and will join another club. He explained the club had anticipated exits, adding the keeper informed them about 15 days ago that he wanted to leave, so they moved to bring in cover. He also noted Selvik performed his role well on Sunday.

Selvik, a 29-year-old Norway international, joined this week on loan from Watford of the English second tier, with an obligation to buy.

Although Coudert had looked likely to start the season, Lachuer said the market brings changes. He suggested Coudert may feel it is time to redirect his career, though only the player can say.
