Celtic travel to Aberdeen for the upcoming midweek SPFL tie at Pittodrie with a few new faces in the ranks, and with the new Bhoys hoping to play a part in the proceedings.
The final day of the January transfer window saw Junior Adamu, Joel Mvuka and Benjamin Arthur join Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara as the 2026 winter intake.
The two earlier arrivals have already proved their worth in recent games and, even though the trip to Pittodrie falls just 24 hours after joining, Austrian striker, Junior Adamu is keen to play a part.
He told the media at today’s Lennoxtown pre-match conference: “Of course, I’m ready and I can’t wait to be on the pitch, to help the team and to give 100 per cent.
“The league is very close so we will try to win as many games as possible to win the title.
"So, anything that comes, I will be ready for that, and I will give 100 per cent.
“I’m really excited to be here and I’m happy to be at this club, and I have a good feeling, so we’ll see what’s to come.”
What Junior Adamu wants to achieve at Celtic this season is a question that supplies a simple answer: “To win the titles and score goals to help Celtic, so we’ll see what will happen.”
However, achieving that could lead to more than picking up trophies in the Hoops, in Adamu’s case it could lead to reclaiming his place in Ralf Rangnick’s Austrian national side with this year’s World Cup looming on the horizon.
Adamu played three times for Austria last term in Nations League games against Slovenia (1-1 A), Kazakhstan (4-0 H) and Kazakhstan again (2-0 A), and he’s keen to reignite his national dream by performing well for the Hoops.
Game-time at Celtic would surely help his cause, and Rangnick has told him that he wants to see him play more after playing 17 times for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga in the first half of this season.
Adamu said of the World Cup and Rangnick’s advice: “It’s one of my goals and that’s why I have the opportunity to play here, so I will try to give my best so that I can be in the World Cup.
“I spoke with him and he wants to see me play. I want to do well so he can invite me for the World Cup.”
