Cody Gakpo denied his former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a win in his first game in charge of Germany.

Felix Nmecha had put Germany ahead with what looked set to be the only goal of an intense Nations League match against the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

But Gakpo scored a spectacular volley at the death to earn the Dutch a deserved point.

A controversial game saw Virgil van Dijk have a goal harshly disallowed while Germany’s Kai Havertz and Dutch striker Brian Brobbey both suffered hamstring injuries.

Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway secured a 3-2 win over Denmark.

Oscar Bobb put the hosts ahead and Haaland doubled the lead with only 18 minutes on the clock.

Mikkel Damsgaard pulled one back for the Danes and Rasmus Hojlund equalised on the hour mark.

But Haaland grabbed a 74th-minute winner when he crashed home a first-time shot from a short corner.

Norway finished with 10 men after David Moller Wolfe was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal disallowed in Portugal’s 1-0 win over Wales.

The 41-year-old thought he had tucked away career goal number 980 to double Portugal’s lead, but a VAR check showed he was just offside.

The hosts had to settle for Joao Felix’s 22nd-minute strike despite a dominant display.

Israel’s Sayed Abu Farchi was sent off for his celebration during a 3-1 defeat against Austria.

The Colorado Rapids forward was already on a yellow card when he equalised before picking up the corner flag and aiming it like a gun.

Austria, who led through Romano Schmid’s penalty, won it in stoppage time through goals from Phillipp Mwene and Sasa Kalajdzic.

Late goals from Christos Tzolis and Anastasios Douvikas saw Greece snatch a 2-1 win in Serbia, who led through Andrija Zivkovic.

The Republic of Ireland slipped to a 1-0 defeat away to Kosovo in Pristina thanks to a goal seven minutes from time from Vedat Muriqi.

Elsewhere. Lithuania won 2-0 in Liechtenstein and Andorra were beaten 2-1 at home to Malta.
