In a crucial piece of development, journalist Matteo Moretto reports that FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Eric Garcia over a new contract.
With everything agreed between the two parties, only an official announcement is now pending, the reliable journalist confirms.
Having come very close to leaving Barcelona in January, Eric Garcia has turned things around spectacularly at the club.
The 24-year-old La Masia product has established himself as a mainstay in Hansi Flick’s team with consistent performances, be it at centre-back, right-back, or even defensive midfield, proving his versatility and adaptability.
The Spanish defender’s contract with Barcelona stood to expire at the end of the ongoing season, and as such, talks over a new deal had been ongoing for a while.

Now, as per Moretto, an agreement has been finalised and Garcia will remain a Barça player for the foreseeable future.
While the update does not mention the duration of the former Manchester City star’s new contract, it has been previously reported that the new deal will run until 2029.
Garcia’s form and contract situation had led to him attracting interest from several clubs, including reigning French and European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Luis Enrique’s side have since ended their pursuit of the 24-year-old versatile star after having learned about the progress in his renewal talks.
Now, it is only a matter of time before Eric signs his contract and an official announcement of his extension until 2029 is made by Barcelona.
