Just in: Int’l manager confirms Man Utd star has suffered an ‘atypical injury’ that ‘requires time to heal’ | OneFootball

Slovenia manager Bostjan Cesar has addressed Benjamin Sesko’s untimely injury layoff, which has ruled him out of international duty over the break.

The forward has not featured for his nation in 11 months, while he also missed Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Fulham last weekend.

Sesko’s problem is said to be a re-aggravation of the shin injury that impacted his 2025/2026 campaign and saw him ruled out of the final three fixtures of the term.

He proceeded to have a quiet summer of rehabilitation, and was also sidelined for United’s pre-season matches before 2026/2027 got underway.

However, that did allow him to be fit for mid-August, hence the 23-year-old featuring over the last few weeks.

Now, it remains to be seen if he will be fit when club action resumes, with United’s next outing a home encounter with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 10.

Cesar has shed some light on Sesko’s struggles this week, telling Planet Nagomet (via Steven Railston): “This isn’t an easy time for Benjamin.

“He is going through a difficult period in his career, as we know he hasn’t suffered many injuries in the past. It is an atypical injury that requires time to heal.

“The most important thing now is for Sesko to surround himself with people he trusts and believes in, and for everyone around him to remain positive.

“Because that is what he needs. He needs time. He needs good rehabilitation – and Slovenia needs him too, once he is fully healthy.”
