Juventus 4-3 Inter Milan: Bastoni Dissapointed: “We Deserved More” In Derby D’Italia Defeat | OneFootball

Juventus emerged as victors in the first Derby d’Italia of the season, overcoming Inter Milan 4-3 in a dramatic match and Alessandro Bastoni has argued his side “deserved more.”

It was a tumultuous affair between the two rivals, with both sides taking advantage of unconfident goalkeeping performances.

Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer failed to save any of the four Juventus shots on target.

However, there was little he could do to prevent the stunning long-range efforts from Kenan Yildiz and Vasilije Adzic.

Two goals from Hakan Calhanoglu hits back at his recent criticism but it was not enough for the Nerazzurri.

Brothers Marcus and Khephren Thuram also marked their first full match against each other in Serie A with a goal each.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, with quotes via FcInterNews, Alessandro Bastoni answered some questions about the match.

“When you concede four goals,” the defender said, “the only thoughts you have are negative ones.”

“We were a bit unlucky in certain incidents and could have done better. We deserved to get more.

“On the other hand, perhaps it’s better to take these defeats early on because the season is still long.”

Bastoni was asked what happened in the last ten minutes of the game.

Inter were 3-2 up heading into the closing stages before two late goals from the Bianconeri turned the game on its head.

“I don’t know what happened,” Bastoni said.

“We were a bit tired towards the end but after conceding four times, it’s difficult to speak highly of the performance.”

Bastoni added “Now the Champions League restarts in a few days. We need to be good at understanding what we did wrong and start again.”

Bastoni was asked to comment on head coach Cristian Chivu’s remarks about the team needing to get over their 5-0 Champions League final defeat to PSG last season.

“I speak for myself and for me it’s a different season,” the defender said.

“I carry last year with pride having been to the Champions League final.

“At the end of their career not every player can say that.”

“Of course we wanted to win,” he added, “but I don’t think theres any ‘debris’ left from what happened.”

“Of course, today, after you play a dominant first half and end up 2-1 down, there’s not much you can do.

“Let’s hope we have a little more luck in the future and move forward.”

Bastoni admitted his side lacked “ruthlessness” in the final ten minutes to close the game out after saying “On the field you could feel that we were superior to them even in our attitude.”
