It wouldn’t be a Derby d’Italia without controversy as Italian media claim Juventus winner over Inter Milan should have gone to VAR.
This is according to today’s edition of the Corriere dello Sport, via FcInterNews.
Moments before Juventus scored their stoppage-time winner, there was an incident which raised eyebrows.
The Corriere note the contact between Khephren Thuram and Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Thuram wins the ball back from Bonny in the midfield, with the Inter player going down before Vasilije Adzic rocketed the ball into the back of the net.

Corriere dello Sport suggests that the officials should have recommended an on-field VAR review for the incident.
Thanks to the RefCam, in play for the first time in Serie A, referee Colombo does not get a full view of the incident.
Alternate angles reveal that Thuram’s hand hits Bonny when he is trying to win the ball back.
This left the Inter player on the floor.
Furthermore, the newspaper states that the referee should have awarded two more yellow cards.
One for Federico Gatti and one for Francesco Acerbi.
