Juventus agree loan deal to sign Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr | OneFootball

Juventus have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, according to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The ‘talented’ Senegal international will join Juventus in a deal worth up to €30 million, starting with an initial loan that includes an option to buy.

However, the option to buy will become mandatory if certain performance-related conditions are met, such as Juventus qualifying for the Champions League and Sarr reaching set appearance targets during the campaign.

Talks between the clubs accelerated after Sarr requested a new challenge away from North London.

The midfielder faced increased competition for places under Roberto De Zerbi following the additions of moves for Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

While Monaco were believed to be leading the race for the 23-year-old, Sarr quickly agreed personal terms with Juventus.

Signing Sarr addresses a key tactical need for Juventus late in the transfer window. The Bianconeri shifted their focus to the Senegalese international after other midfield targets fell through, drawn to his high-energy, box-to-box style and ball-winning ability.

For Tottenham, allowing Sarr to depart streamlines a crowded midfield and could provide a lucrative windfall if the deal becomes permanent.

The 23-year-old leaves North London after making over 100 competitive appearances for Spurs since joining from French side FC Metz in 2021.

With the deal agreed, Sarr has been authorised to travel to Turin to undergo a medical and sign his contract before the transfer deadline.

Tottenham are set for a busy end to the window and remain in the market for another attacker. Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye is the leading candidate, but Spurs face competition from Arsenal and Manchester City.
