Juventus have agreed to a deal to sign Pape Matar Sarr on loan from Tottenham after Franck Kessie decided to join Atalanta.

The Old Lady had been hopeful of signing Kessie, who wanted to join them as a free agent, but their offer for his signature fell short of his expectations. Juventus planned to improve their proposal, but before that could happen, Kessie agreed to join Atalanta.

The Bianconeri have now turned their attention towards Sarr as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes. The midfielder has not been playing regularly at Tottenham, giving him an opportunity to pursue a move elsewhere.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Roberto de Zerbi has allowed Sarr to leave, with the midfielder set to join Juventus on an initial loan deal worth 2m euros.

Juventus agree Sarr deal

Romano adds that the loan agreement will include an option to make the move permanent for 28m euros if Juventus qualify for the Champions League and Sarr plays in 50 per cent of their matches.

The midfielder is now set to complete the move, with Juventus preparing to add another player to Luciano Spalletti’s squad before the transfer window closes. The agreement provides the Bianconeri with another option in midfield while giving Sarr the opportunity to secure more regular playing time.

Juventus had initially hoped to complete a deal for Kessie, but his decision to join Atalanta forced the club to consider an alternative. Sarr has now emerged as the player they want to bring into the squad.

Sarr ready for Juventus

Sarr is regarded as a top player, and Juventus have watched him for several seasons before deciding to make this move. Their long-standing interest suggests they believe he can become an important part of Spalletti’s team.

The loan arrangement also allows Juventus to assess the midfielder before deciding whether to make his transfer permanent. The conditions attached to the option mean the Bianconeri could retain the chance to sign him if he plays an important role and the club qualifies for the Champions League.

For Sarr, the move represents an opportunity to play more regularly, while Juventus gain another midfield option after missing out on Kessie. With the transfer window closing, the Bianconeri will now look to complete the deal and welcome their latest signing.
