Juventus eyes free transfer of Manchester City star next year | OneFootball

With money still scarce, the free agency market will continue to provide value for money for Juventus, and the club already have a list of players they would like to sign at the end of this season without paying a transfer fee.

Several names are on that list, and new options continue to emerge. Football Italia reveals that Mateo Kovacic is the latest player Juventus are considering signing in the summer of 2027.

The Croatian midfielder has enjoyed a fine career in the Premier League, where he currently plays for Manchester City, but there is no suggestion that he will remain at the club.

City have reconstructed their midfield with at least three big-money signings, which cost them more than 300m euros in total. As a result, they may have less reason to retain Kovacic as they continue to develop their midfield options.

With that in mind, Kovacic is preparing to leave the club, and the report says Juventus want to add him to their squad as the Bianconeri continue to monitor players who can strengthen their team.

The midfielder could therefore become an option for Juventus if he becomes available as a free agent. His experience at the highest level of European football would also give the club an experienced option in midfield.

Return to Italian Football

In the summer, Juventus hope Kovacic will be open to another spell in Italian football. The midfielder has already played in the country earlier in his career, having spent time on the books of Inter Milan.

His previous experience in Italy could make a return a familiar option for the Croatian, while Juventus would be able to add an experienced midfielder without paying a transfer fee if he leaves Manchester City at the end of his contract.

Although Kovacic has lost some of his importance at City, there is no doubt that he remains a highly experienced midfielder who could contribute to Juventus if he joins them from the beginning of next season.
