Juventus have two options to offer Atletico in exchange for Sorloth, including David | OneFootball

Reports from multiple sources on Wednesday claim that Atletico Madrid have requested information regarding Juventus forward Jonathan David, following their interest in Bianconeri winger Nico Gonzalez, and that the Old Lady are still hoping to secure a deal for Alexander Sorloth before the close of the summer transfer window.

Atletico ask after Jonathan David, Juventus want Sorloth

Juventus are still hoping to sign another physically-imposing centre-forward before the close of the summer transfer window and according to reports in Italy, Luciano Spalletti wants Atletico’s Sorloth.

Meanwhile, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano and various others on Wednesday, Atletico have made an enquiry regarding Juventus and Canada attacker David, whose departure is required before a deal for Sorloth becomes a genuine possibility.

At this stage, Atletico have not submitted a bid for David, nor have they entered formal negotiations, but their enquiry does signal an expression of interest.

David had joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer, but struggled to convince at centre-forward after netting six times from 35 appearances in Serie A. Selling him would bring a significant capital gain for the Old Lady, and would also clear significant space from the club’s wage bill.

David reportedly earns a salary of around €6m in net wages and potential bonuses of an additional €2m.

David is not the only Juventus player of interest to Atletico: Nico Gonzalez is also back in Turin after his successful loan spell in the Spanish capital in 2025-26.

Nico had joined Atleti on loan with a potential obligation to buy for a total €32m fee, but did not quite make the required number of LaLiga appearances last season for the obligation to buy clause to be triggered.

Reports across the summer have claimed that Atletico are interested in re-negotiating the price of a permanent deal for Nico, but as things stand, this has not materialised.

It does mean that Juventus still have two enticing options to offer Atletico if the Bianconeri do proceed with negotiations for Sorloth.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato.com adds that Joshua Zirkzee remains an alternative option for th Juve attack and that Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta could be a last-minute solution.
