Juventus set out to revamp their squad during the summer, and that included offloading several players to make room for new additions. The manager had done his best to get the most from the players he inherited when he arrived, but the summer transfer window gave him a unique opportunity to sign players better suited to his system. That also meant trying to offload those who were not considered good enough for his plans.

However, the Bianconeri did not manage to sell everyone they would have liked to move on. They also tried to loan some of those players out, but were unable to find temporary destinations for all of them.

Juventus failed to make a single sale for the first time in modern history, leaving several players who had been expected to leave still at the club. What initially appeared to be a problem may now have helped save their season, with some of those players making important contributions.

Important goals changing fortunes

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Teun Koopmeiners, Nicolas Gonzalez and Federico Gatti have been saving the Bianconeri’s blushes this season with important goals. All three were among the players Juventus had placed on the market and hoped would change clubs at the end of the last transfer window.

Their continued presence has therefore provided Juve with unexpected value. Instead of leaving the club, they have remained available to contribute when needed, with their goals proving particularly important to the team’s campaign.

The situation demonstrates how quickly plans can change in football. Juventus had intended to reshape their squad and believed several players could move on, but their inability to complete those deals has given the same players an opportunity to prove their value.

For the Bianconeri, those contributions could ultimately prove crucial. While the summer was focused on transformation and creating a squad suited to the manager’s system, the players who remained have shown that they can still make a difference when given the opportunity.
