Juventus is stepping up talks for Jonathan David’s replacement | OneFootball

Juventus have stepped up talks to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United as a replacement for Jonathan David, who appears to be on his way out of the club.

David has been blocking the arrival of a new striker throughout the summer, as he has insisted that he would stay or only leave Juventus on his own terms. Those terms include finding a top club and maintaining his current wages, making it difficult for the Bianconeri to move forward with their plans.

Because David struggled last season, not many clubs have shown interest in signing him during the summer. However, Atletico Madrid are now set to complete a move for the striker.

The Spanish side have reached an agreement with David over a summer transfer, and all parties want the move to go through. This has encouraged Juventus to accelerate their plans to replace him before the transfer window closes.

Juventus target Zirkzee

According to Tuttojuve, Juventus have identified United’s Zirkzee as the best player to replace David and have been holding talks to make the move happen.

Zirkzee has just turned down a move to Fiorentina, but he could be open to joining Juventus, one of the top teams in Europe. The Bianconeri had previously been interested in signing him from Bologna before he moved to England.

The Dutchman could therefore provide Juventus with the attacking option they need after David’s expected departure. His situation at United also appears to have created an opportunity for the Bianconeri to pursue the transfer.

All parties could benefit

A move to Juventus could give Zirkzee another opportunity to establish himself, while the Bianconeri would secure a replacement for David. The fact that Juventus had already shown interest in him before his move to England could also work in their favour.

The move is one that all parties reportedly want, while the men at Old Trafford have been open to Zirkzee’s departure. Juventus therefore need to convince the Dutchman before completing the transfer.

With David seemingly close to leaving, Juventus are now focused on bringing Zirkzee to the club. If they can reach an agreement with the striker, they could have their replacement ready for the next stage of the season.
