Juventus’ move for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta at standstill

Juventus’ pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta has reached a significant standstill, prompting the Bianconeri to pivot their attention toward Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while personal terms had been agreed upon with Mateta, two major obstacles have stalled the move. Crystal Palace are holding firm on a €40 million valuation and refusing to budge after already securing funds from the sale of Marc Guehi and the player’s entourage is demanding high commission fees that Juventus are currently unwilling to meet.

In light of these difficulties, En-Nesyri has emerged as a concrete and more affordable alternative. The Moroccan international, who has seen his playing time limited in Turkey following the arrival of Jhon Durán, is reportedly available on a more favorable loan-with-option-to-buy formula.

Unlike the Mateta deal, which would require a total package exceeding €30 million plus bonuses and heavy fees, En-Nesyri represents a simpler economic operation. While the former Sevilla man is not necessarily the top choice for coach Luciano Spalletti, his readiness to move and the lower financial barrier make him an increasingly attractive option as the deadline approaches.
