Jonathan David has yet to find his footing since heading to Juventus and has paid the price for Dusan Vlahovic’s resurgence in recent matches. The situation is starting to worry his camp, which is testing the waters for a possible January exit, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
Nothing has been decided, but his agents have been sent out feelers to the same teams eyeing his Serbian teammate on a Bosman move, for instance, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Tottenham, to see whether they could be interested.
As for Vlahovic, while the buzz about a renewal intensifies, in reality, the Bianconeri could offer about as much as he’ll earn this year, €6M. While he’s open to staying, he’d have to take a big pay cut to do so.
David joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer after a long chase, although the club disbursed €12M commissions to his entourage. According to Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), despite the chatter about a winter departure that first started circulating in Belgium and France, there’s nothing concretely in the works in that direction.
The Canadian star had a similar slow start during his time at Lille before eventually getting going and producing in spades. The club and his entourage aim to protect him during a difficult stretch. He surely hasn’t asked to leave.
If the team starts working better under Luciano Spalletti, which it should, everybody will benefit, which will solve a few problems. It’ll be absurd for them to cut bait so soon on a newcomer, especially without knowing whether Vlahovic will stay. It’ll be a matter for next summer if he stutters all season long, but it’s unlikely.
