Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly preparing a two-year contract for Bernardo Silva as they wait for a comprehensible decision over the Manchester City captain’s future.

The Portugal international turns 32 in August but still appears to be at the peak of his career after leading Pep Guardiola’s side to a breathtaking victory over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon to keep City in the Premier League title race.

If Dominik Szoboszlai’s 35-yard free-kick remained the only goal of the contest, league leaders Arsenal would have gone nine points clear – effectively marking the end, and arguably the failure, of Manchester City’s endeavour for a ninth top-flight title.

However, Bernardo Silva stabbed home a low shot under Alisson before Erling Haaland – the creator of the first – scored from the penalty spot in stoppage time to divert momentum and complete a double over Liverpool for the first time since the 1936/37 campaign.

Silva’s performances in the run-up to the game at Anfield were certainly not disastrous but highly underwhelming in contrast to his ability, though all of his strengths shone on Merseyside at the weekend.

His intelligence and experience highlight how important he is for the club, putting the spotlight on attributes in a player that City will miss when he leaves in the summer. Although it is not all confirmed, interest from across the globe is heating up, and understandably.

After Spanish outlet Nacional reported that Bernardo Silva has ‘already communicated his willingness to move on’, the likes of Inter Miami, Benfica and Barcelona have all shown interest to the 31-year-old, according to various reports.

However, it is Juventus who are said to be aiming to jump the gun and get a head start in their pursuit of Bernardo Silva on a free transfer in the summer, replicating Napoli’s move for club legend Kevin de Bruyne.

That is according to the information of Italian newspaper Calciomercato IT, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, who state that the Old Lady are awaiting a final decision from the Portuguese midfielder on his future.

Juventus have been paying attention to Bernardo Silva since September and after a number of months, there are no signs that the versatile midfielder will be committing the rest of his career at the Etihad Stadium, despite the support he holds in these parts.

Club officials in Turin are expecting Silva to make his final decision in the ‘coming weeks’, though nothing is confirmed as of yet. Still, Juventus have prepared a two-year deal for the Portugal international.

It goes without saying that Bernardo Silva’s influence on any side would come with priceless benefits, not least because he has won multiple major titles under Pep Guardiola in one of the most dominant eras of English football.

In 2022/23, Bernardo Silva played a big part in Manchester City’s first ever UEFA Champions League title, which coincided with the Treble that year. He has also won six Premier Leagues, four League Cups and two FA Cups.
